Praylist ("we", "us") is a personal prayer app that lets you record, keep, and share prayers. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Praylist to be a quiet, private place — and we treat your prayers accordingly.

Information we collect

Your account — the email address and password you use to sign in. Passwords are stored securely (hashed) by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
Your prayers — the prayer titles, references, and text you add, and any voice recordings you make. Prayers others contribute to your collection, and prayers you send to or receive from others, are stored the same way.
How you're feeling — when you use the "find the prayer for how I feel" feature, the text you enter is used only to select a matching prayer from your own collection (see "AI features" below).
Basic usage — a count of how many times you play a recording, and standard technical information (like your device type and log data) needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use your information

To provide the app: store and play back your prayers, deliver invites and sent prayers, and keep your account working across your devices.
To power optional features you choose to use (transcription and the "how I feel" prayer match).
To send you essential account emails (such as sign-in confirmation and password resets).
To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your prayers to advertise to you.

How your prayers are shared

Sharing only happens when you choose it. If you create an invite link, people you give it to can add prayers to your collection (and view your prayers if you enable browsing). Prayers you mark private are never shown to anyone you invite. When you send a prayer to someone, only the person with that link can receive it. You control these links and can revoke them at any time.

AI features

Two optional features send content to trusted providers so they can function:

Recording transcription — to make your recordings searchable by the "how I feel" feature, a recording may be sent to a speech-to-text provider (Groq) to convert it to text. The transcript is stored with your prayer.
Prayer matching — when you describe how you feel, that text and your prayer titles/text are sent to an AI provider (Anthropic's Claude) to choose which of your prayers best fits. This is used only to return a suggestion; it is not used to train models.

Service providers

We use a small number of reputable providers to run Praylist, who process data only to provide their service to us: Supabase (authentication, database, and encrypted file storage), Netlify (hosting), Resend (account emails), Groq (recording transcription), and Anthropic (prayer matching).

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Delete my account). Deleting your account permanently removes your prayers, recordings, invites, sent prayers, and profile from our systems. This cannot be undone.

Security

Your data is stored with encryption in transit and at rest, and your recordings live in private storage that is only accessible through short-lived, signed links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Praylist is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
